Weekly Liturgy :: Children and Family :: Week of 11/3/19

Gather

How did you experience God this week (joys, struggles, breakthroughs)?

Scripture

How did the Holy Spirit speak to you through His Word this week? (We desire for God’s Word to always be on our minds, upon our lips, and deep in our hearts).

Family Discipleship Questions

This Week’s Memory Verse: The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still. -Exodus 14:14

  1. This week we learned about the plagues God sent on Egypt through Moses. Ask your child what they learned about God this week, in Sunday school or elsewhere.

  2. Discuss a situation in your life where you have seen God demonstrate his power. This might be in nature or an incident where it was clear to you God was in control.

  3. Read Exodus 14:21-22 and Deuteronomy 20:3-4.

  4. Next Sunday we’ll be talking about how God granted Israel victory over Pharaoh as they crossed the Red Sea and made their way toward the Promised Land.

    • When have you felt victorious?

    • How did you remember to give the glory to God?

Confession

Questions to engage either corporately or silently: What have you put in place of God or given your heart to this week? What sin do you need to repent of? What area are you not trusting your identity is in Christ? Encourage one another to turn to God and receive his forgiveness and grace. (Consider praying our Corporate Confession together)

+ Corporate Confession

Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone.

We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.

We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.

For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Prayers

Spend a few minutes praying into the areas God has spoken to you about. Pray for one another and for the non-believers in your lives. (Consider praying through the Lord’s Prayer)

+ The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name
Thank God for who He is and His abundant faithfulness.

Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven
Pray for God’s rule and reign to become a reality.

Give us this day our daily bread
Pray for God’s daily provision in your life.

Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who have trespassed against us
Confess your sins to the Lord, and forgive people who have wronged you.

Lead us not into temptation
Ask for God to guide you in ‘paths of righteousness for His name sake’.

Deliver us from evil
Pray for God’s protection against any of the strategies of Satan.

For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen
