Weekly Liturgy :: Sermon Based :: Week of 11/10/19

How did you experience God this week (joys, struggles, breakthroughs)?

How did the Holy Spirit speak to you through His Word this week? (We desire for God’s Word to always be on our minds, upon our lips, and deep in our hearts).

Sermon Discussion Questions

Nehemiah 7:73-8:3, Matthew 16:13-20

  1.  What was a main take away from the Sermon this week?

  2. What was something new that you learned through the sermon this week?

  3. What were some key characteristics of the "purposed people" that were being rebuilt as part of Nehemiah's Vision in Nehemiah 7 & 8?

  4. Just as the returning Jewish Exiles had to relearn rhythm and ritual in their lives, what are some rhythms and rituals we can participate in today that root us in our identify as God's people?

  5. Functionally today, where are areas of our lives that we can believe that Jesus is building his church? Why is that truth difficult or easy to believe?

  6. What are practical ways today in our lives that we are participating in the "co-mission" that Christ has commissioned us in Matthew 28:16-20?

  7. Do you feel equipped to participate in the "co-mission"? If not, here are some helpful evaluation questions:

    • Have you been discipled? If so, by whom?

    • Who are you currently discipling in your life?

    • Who are people in your life who do not yet know the transforming power of the Gospel?

    • How can you open up the rhythms of your life to invite them into your Gospel lifestyle?

Questions to engage either corporately or silently: What have you put in place of God or given your heart to this week? What sin do you need to repent of? What area are you not trusting your identity is in Christ? Encourage one another to turn to God and receive his forgiveness and grace. (Consider praying our Corporate Confession together)

+ Corporate Confession

Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone.

We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.

We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.

For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Spend a few minutes praying into the areas God has spoken to you about. Pray for one another and for the non-believers in your lives. (Consider praying through the Lord’s Prayer)

+ The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name
Thank God for who He is and His abundant faithfulness.

Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven
Pray for God’s rule and reign to become a reality.

Give us this day our daily bread
Pray for God’s daily provision in your life.

Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who have trespassed against us
Confess your sins to the Lord, and forgive people who have wronged you.

Lead us not into temptation
Ask for God to guide you in ‘paths of righteousness for His name sake’.

Deliver us from evil
Pray for God’s protection against any of the strategies of Satan.

For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen
